Prabir Ghosh, the 63 years old head of the Science and Rationalists’ Association of India, is a renowned author, columnist, film maker and political thinker. He is the internationally famed debunker of godmen, astrologers and other merchants of “destiny and spiritualism”.
In his crusade against social evils he has survived at least 20 attempts on his life since the mid-1980s. He is also the unquestionable originator of the concept of Contemporary Rationalism and the pioneer of the rationalist movement in India. Establishing the legal right to mention “Humanism” as religion is just one out of his numerous outstanding achievements.
He on behalf of the Science and Rationalists’ Association of India offers US$ 62,500 to anyone who claims to possess supernatural power of any kind and proves the same without resorting to any trick.
Since his first collection of essays ‘Aloukik Noi Loukik [Vol - I]’ (literally translated means “Everything is Natural- not supernatural) was published, Prabir Ghosh’s name was established firmly as an essayist with a difference, with a mission. His books feature in the list of best-sellers for the past 23 years.

“Guru Busters”, the documentary made on him by Channel 4, BBC Television, 13 years back remains a sensation even now. He was also covered by The Times, London, and New York Times in their cover story.
The uncompromising attitude and the stunning self-confidence which comes from deep conviction within, have given him a He-man image. But to those who know him closely, he is friendly, easily approachable, a loving and caring human being.
So, all self-declared “godmen” and “clairvoyants” better be cautious. This uncompromising rationalist can make you bite the dust, any day…any moment.
His books (over 30) are always a super-duper hit and sell like blockbusters…consistently for the last 23 years. Recently he has launched an e-book “The Mystery of Mother Teresa and Sainthood” available at www.uniqueebook.com that discloses all untold stories about the proposed sainthood of Mother Teresa and the unfair means resorted to by the Vatican city in the issues. It’s revealed for the first time. The rationalist was perhaps at his best when he managed to stop the Vatican from attributing Mother Teresa with Sainthood. He carried an individual investigation into this matter. It all started when an Indian girl was cured with the help of miracles, also known as the “Magic Cure”. He exposed the complete planning of the Vatican and gave other investigative services a wave of shame. However, all his views on this issue were covered by media and news agencies like BBC, Time, The Independent, Australian Broadcasting Corporation, German Broadcasting Corporation, American Broadcasting Corporation and many such agencies.
Founder and the present General Secretary of the Science and Rationalists Association of India, he is the crusader with a brave heart, carrying out his relentless war against all social evils; right from deep-rooted superstitions to state terrorism. Under his able stewardship, another “giant leap forward” is in the making, especially in the Indian sub-continent.
A major warrior in his crusade was his own association, The Science and Rationalist Association of India. Through this very association, he and his members had participated in various movements. He had taken his movements to an international level and there had been 20 assassination attempts on him in the international arena.
On behalf of his association, he has a challenge of US$62,500 for any one who claims to possess “supernatural” powers. This challenge is more than two decades old and has so far routed more than a thousand such “claimants”.
In 1994, Eagle and Eagle had produced a documentary film called the “Guru Busters” (Click here to watch the movie). This film was broadcasted over 40 countries and Channel4 International of UK was the one which handled the broadcasting. The film was shown in many languages. A major part of the film was played by Prabir Ghosh and his “Science and Rationalists Association of India. They went around busting all the people who claimed to have supernatural powers. This documentary still is among the most popular ones ever made.
